Follow Mark Dancer’s Articles on Innovating Business for the Real World!

By Mark Dancer

Hello reader!

I’m taking the Network for Business Innovation (N4BI) on a new journey. This is the first of a series of LinkedIn articles that will chronicle our progress, share ideas, and tell stories. I invite you to follow our work.

Let’s Reboot the Real World

While researching my newest book, Innovate to Dominate: The 12th Edition in the Facing the Forces of Change® Series, I discovered an emerging mindset — faced with the threat of disruption, traditional businesses are working to innovate how business is done in the real world! Yes, traditional businesses must offer online services and leverage artificial intelligence. But platform players will dominate the virtual world. The rest of us must win by dominating the real world. That means doing business as humans for humans and leveraging technology in the service of business – not the other way around.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, put it this way as he delivered MIT’s 2017 commencement address:

“Technology is capable of doing great things. But it doesn’t want to do great things. It doesn’t want anything. That part takes all of us.”

What’s Ahead

My goal with these articles is to share our new findings and stories as we go. In the next article, I will examine several core business values that can enable human-centric innovation for the real world.

Please keep an eye out for our future articles (or follow me on LinkedIn). Feel free to reach out. Participate. Comment. Share your stories! It is up to us, as a community of business innovators, to push boundaries by discussing our ideas, priorities, questions, and challenges.

Looking forward to our journey together,
